ABSTRACT

An electronic nose (e-nose) is a collection of sensors with specific characteristics. In this chapter, we will be discussing the current perspectives of e-noses in various sectors, such as military, biomedicine, food and beverages, agriculture… The important role of e-noses in these sectors can provide a new dimension to many things from detecting explosives to sensing chemicals in warfare;from maintaining food quality to helping in identifying various flavors of wine, from detecting cancer to sensing COVID-19 virus, etc. The e-nose market is a few decades old but it has marked its presence in almost all fields. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd.
